Af jörðu ertu komin
Description
The photographer's own words:
“Af jörðu ertu komin/ From the earth”
While driving in Hvalfjörður one afternoon in March of 2007, I decided to explore a small wooded area I’d never checked out before. I came across a ditch, draped in dead grass and weeds, and knew I needed to create a selfportrait there. After some trial and error I came to the conclusion that it would work best if I was nude, allowing the curves of my body to mimic the curves of the ground, my hair almost blending with the grass. I was a bit paranoid that somebody might show up while shooting this, as there was a farm nearby, but was very glad I decided to take the risk, as this quickly became - and still is - one of my favorite photos I’ve ever created.
