"Tommy Lie is not only the RIFO Photographer of the Year 2021, but also married man, has children and even grandchildren, and lives in the wilderness in the northernmost part of Sweden. When the seventeen year old Lie bought his first camera, black & white was the thing and he spent many years in the darkroom, fascinated by how the images emerged out of the ether. Although Lie’s background lies in the the analog realm, the darkroom years has helped shape his developing style of today. Lie is a member of the Swedish photo club F’labb and frequently competes with photographers from all of the photo societies in Sweden through RIFO, a competition widely regarded as the unofficial Swedish Championships in photography. Lie was awarded Photographer of the Year in 2021 and it is Lie’s ambition for the viewer to feel, wonder, and to be amused by his images.
